Our Platform Technology

Ellipse Technologies, Inc.(Ellipse) is an innovative company dedicated to the design, development and successful commercialization of non-invasively adjustable, remote controlled implants for a broad spectrum of spinal and orthopedic applications. Ellipse has developed remote controlled distraction systems using magnets which may eliminate the need for additional surgeries for adjustment. The initial products aid in the restoration of proper anatomic position and alignment of the spine and correct limb length discrepancies of the femur and tibia.

MAGEC (MAGnetic Expansion Control)

The MAGEC System is an adjustable growing rod used to brace the spine during growth to minimize the progression of scoliosis.  Following a surgical procedure to implant the rod, it can be non-invasively distracted in the physician's clinic or office using the MAGEC ERC (External Remote Controller).

PRECICE® Intramedullary Limb Lengthening System

The PRECICE System is an adjustable intramedullary nail used for limb lengthening of the femur and tibia, often the result of chronic fractures, congenital abnormalities, malunions, or nonunions. The PRECICE nail can be non-invasively lengthened in the physician's clinic or by the patient at home using the PRECICE ERC (External Remote Controller).

Since this time, PRECICE has been used in hundreds of limb lengthening procedures throughout the world. PRECICE is is an adjustable intramedullary nail used for limb lengthening of the femur and tibia, often the result of chronic fractures, congenital abnormalities, malunions, or nonunions.

MAGEC System

A recent publication in The Lancet highlighted the results of a prospective patient series by Kenneth MC Cheung, MD.  The preliminary results suggested that the MAGEC system is effective and safe, can minimize surgical scarring and psychological distress, improve quality of life, and is more cost-effective than a traditional growing rod procedures.  Note: MAGEC is not available for sale in the United States.
